Smith Travels to Washington with North Texas Crime Commission
Smith Protective Services has always believed in supporting law enforcement both locally and nationally. In an effort to stay involved we often work alongside groups such as the North Texas Crime Commission (NTCC) with whom we share the mission to achieve proper enforcement and enlightened prevention through a comprehensive, collaborative effort between citizens and law enforcement. The NTCC seeks to make this a reality by providing a forum for the exchange of information between local law enforcement and federal agencies (such as the F.B.I., D.E.A. and the U.S. Marshals service) aided by the support of the public.
Each year members of the NTCC organize a legislative mission trip to Washington D.C. in order to meet with federal agencies, members of congress, key members of their staff, executive branch officials, and select national trade association representatives. This year some representatives of Smith were honored with the opportunity to be a part of the 2017 legislative mission trip.
Our purpose in D.C. was to:
- Establish a framework whereby the federal, congressional, and executive branch priorities of the enforcement and the business communities of North Texas may be discussed and advanced through the Legislative Committee of the NTCC.
- Partner with and assist various congressional and executive branch officials and agencies in their efforts to fight crime at the national level.
- Establish relationships that will facilitate the establishment of joint law enforcement training opportunities between the NTCC and our federal partners.
- Conduct official meetings of the NTCC Legislative Committee.
- Provide updates on the fight against crime in North Texas from those leading the fight in our local region.
We at Smith are very thankful of this experience with the NTCC and we will continue supporting the NTCC to help fulfill their mission.
